Talking Story Tuesday with Amy Seckinger of Bath Luve (Giveaway Too!)

There’s nothing like giving your little one their first bath. You break out the camera maybe even the video camera and can’t wait to take pictures to share with the whole family. But you soon realize that bath time isn’t fun at all for your little one, they are cold, exposed, shivering and well, just not very happy. The poor bambino!

So what should you do? You should cover up your babe with a Bath Luve! This adorable 100% soft cotton terry cloth cover comes in fun, bright colors and shapes such as a fish, a duck or a frog. You simply get it wet with warm water, and lay it over your little one’s belly. Once all warm and covered, your little one will feel as if they are back in the womb. He’s sure to love bathtime more and you will finally get those winning bath shots that are sure to be frame worthy! (plus, the Bath Luve is a great cover for even the very modest of babies).

Today we’re talking story to the woman who is keeping our babies warm and snugly during bathtime…

Name: Amy Seckinger

Business: Bath Luve

Why did you start your business?
After struggling with bath time with my children, I wanted to develop a product to help other moms. Through design/testing and feedback came up with the Bath Luve in three different characters, frog, duck and fish. I love getting thank yous from parents who tell me their bath time is now a more enjoyable part of the day for them and their little ones. The babies are kept warm and cozy when covered in the Bath Luve and the bathing experience is the bonding time it should be.

What is your favorite part of owning your own business?
It gives me the flexibility and freedom to be creative while also being with my children.

What inspires you?
It inspires me to get e-mails or letters from parents telling how the Bath Luve has helped their family. It makes it all worth it!

Who is your biggest cheerleader?
My husband, Eddie. He’s an entrepreneur too, and we encourage each other and support each other 100 percent. He’s a great sounding board and is always ready with advice and help through the ups and downs of launching a new product and creating a brand.

What would be your #1 piece of advice that you would give to any mom just starting out or wanting to start a business?
They need to know right off the bat that it’s hard work, and you’ll have to invest money and time in your ideas. Protect yourself by filing for any patents and consulting with a business attorney. If it was easy, everyone would do it. However, if you can make it happen, it’s so rewarding, especially when your product can make a difference in the lives of others. Believe in yourself and work hard!

How do you keep your kids occupied when you are working?
When they were younger, I didn’t have the time to spend to launch a product although I did spend time creating and experimenting with the idea. Now that they’re school aged, I can work on my business while they’re in class and spend the evenings carpooling like so many other moms!

What do you never leave the house without?
My Blackberry so I can keep in touch at home and with work for e-mails, phone calls and scheduling.

Do you have a favorite quote?
I have several but one I keep in mind is “Without having a goal, it’s difficult to score!”

Visit to purchase your Bath Luve. And coming soon, Bath Luve Buddies, a wonderful addition to the bath for older babies!

What a great idea. I would use it for my grand daughter. We currently bath her in the kitchen and it’s chilly there.

  2. Anonymous says:

These are awesome! I used to just lay a washcloth over my baby in the tub but it wasn’t big enough. These are a great idea. I would love to give one to my best friend that is expecting a little girl in October.

  3. Honestly, I’d love this for our next babe (number four!). We gave away all of our baby stuff after number three thinking we were done. Then I went and had a baby for friends of mine earlier this year (surrogacy). That made hubby and I want another and now we’re starting over in the baby essentials department. ;)

Thank you!! :) alison523 at gmail dot com

  4. I have been a nanny for the past 7 years and have bathed many babies, this would have been very useful!! I am now pregnant with my first due in April and would keep it for myself! They’re ADORABLE!!

  6. Awesome idea. I would like to give it to my friend who is having her first child, baby girl, in October. Thank you for a great giveaway!

  7. I would love to win for our first baby due in January. I know bathing for newborns can get a little chilly, sitting out of the water. This would be a lovely bath accessory to have. I can’t wait for him to arrive!

  12. piece of me says:

I would love to win this for my daughter. She loves to take baths but shivers when I put her in her seat to wash her. This would be a lifesaver. Thanks

  24. I would use it for my (hopefully) next little one. The tub is so cold for babies!

  25. I think this product would help us so much. My 6 month old hates the bath. We’ve tried everything we can think of. It takes two of us to bathe him, one to hold him still, the other to do the washing. He shreiks and arches and has such a fit. I’m dying for anything that would help calm him down.

  26. hippos toes says:

What a cute idea! I wish I would have had this for my son when he was a little guy. I used to use a warm wash cloth :). Love your interviews!! Love to see new products by entrepreneural women!!
