Aloha Friday Finds: In My Head Studios Handcrafted Jewelry

Happy Aloha Friday Ohana Mamas! Today’s Aloha Friday Find is beautiful handcrafted jewelry made by Vickie over at In My Head Studios

I found Vickie on twitter and followed her to her etsy shop. I was instantly drawn to a blue necklace that looked like a mini canvas surrounded by shiny silver. The canvas, to me, resembled the design that you’d find on a tapa – an ancient art done on tree bark. You see this artwork all over Hawaii, however I purchased our first tapa while on our honeymoon in Fiji, over six years ago.

It was funny when I found out that the creator of these pieces, that reminded me so fondly of Fiji and Hawaii, was from New York. How much farther from Hawaii could you get, right? But her pieces still have a great aloha feel.

A little bit about Vickie, the woman behind In My Head Studios…

“I got started with art a long time ago as a child. There were never enough papers, markers, or crayons to keep up with my need to make things. The collage art jewelry came from my desire to work with paper, my favorite medium, and to do something with metal. I really enjoy the challenge of working on a 1″ x 1” canvas. It has become impossible for me to stick with one medium so I also knit, make paper, paint, sculpt, make and trade artist trading cards, and enjoy photography.

I have a twin sister who, happily, only lives 7 blocks away. My family is very close as well. I feel blessed to be working full time as an artist and to have a supportive business and life partner to share my world with.”

In My Head Studios has ready to buy pieces in their etsy shop for you to check out now. With a combination of original artwork, which Vickie hand draws, and her keen eye for using paper with just the right design, they are all beautiful.

My fave Aloha Friday Finds other than the blue washi paper pendant shown above, are the coral flower, who’s petals are hand drawn by Vickie and the lotus flower, also an original piece of mini art.

In My Head Studios also offers custom pieces. Vickie says she loves to do custom work. All you have to do is send her a message on etsy and get the conversation, and creative juices, flowing. These pendants are one-of-a-kind, beautiful and would be the perfect holiday gift for someone special in your life, maybe your best girlfriend, your sister, your mom, or daughter.

SAVE! Right now, In My Head Studios is offering Ohana Mama readers a 10% discount with the code “OHANA1114”. Just add the code to “message to seller” when purchasing and your discount will come off via a paypal refund.
