Calling all Moms! Work from home with real, use-your-brain jobs!

As you know, I work from home.  I am in Hawaii and the company is in Los Angeles.  Yes, I telecommute across the huge vast Pacific ocean!  I found my job on HireMyMom.com (see more about that below)

Here are my top 5 reasons why I love working from home…

1. I am keeping my resume current while still being there as mom for my kids.

2. I am bringing in money for my family and this feels good on soooo many levels!  I am also using a huge portion of it to get my own business up and running.

3. I don’t have to find a babysitter/daycare

4. Flexibility.  Especially by being hired through HireMyMom, my boss knows that I am a Mom and that I work from home.  And with that, she knows that things come up, like a child that won’t take a nap or a school play that I must go to.  I can be a mom and not hide it!

5. I’m flexing my brain muscle and combating mommy brain head on!  AND I get to talk to other adults and be ME…Sarah! And not just Cameron or Leah’s mom.

I’ll be honest, working from home is the hardest job I have ever had in my life. This is my second go around.  I worked from home full-time for the first year and a half after having my first child.  The daily juggling act is something I am constantly trying to master and many times a ball or two fall, but overall I feel very blessed to have the opportunity to do all of the above.

hiremymom.com

If you are looking for a project to work on and make some money or if you are looking to get back into the workplace with a full or part time job, HireMymom.com has it all!  For those looking for a job, the cost is $29.95 for 90 days or $99 for a year.  Jobs range from PR gigs to blogging gigs to transcriptions to web site creation & graphic design (and a bunch more!).  Head on over to www.hiremymom.com and sign up.

The $30 I spent was so well worth it for me – I found my job the first week I signed up! Good luck and go get em!

  1. Thank you so much for sharing this site! I’m also a stay-at-home-mommy and it is hard to find legit work online. I will definately check out that site!

  2. I know this is an old post, but I just used your referral link to join HireMyMom. Thanks for the info. I already see some jobs I may be interested in.

  3. Hey Sarah,

Thanks for sharing this post! I’ve been looking for a stay at home job too!
I found you blog on the MomDot Blog Link a Thon. I’m #279.

  4. Thanks Sarah, I’ll check it out if the at home job I’m suppose to start soon doesn’t work out.

  5. I am currently a member of hiremymom.com (thanks for the tip Sarah) and have been a member for a few months now. Like Sarah mentioned it is not a get quick scheme. You really have to work at getting the jobs, post your resume, have the interviews (phone in my case).. like any other corporate jobs. This is just geared toward the working momma, I love it!

  6. I’ve wondered about doing this. I know you had success but I’m so skeptical about everything. I would really like to stop doing what I’m doing now (daycare) for a “real” job not just a mommy job.

Hey Melinda, Why are you skeptical? This isn’t a get rich quick scheme or a pyramid scheme it’s real jobs posted from real companies…some that have posted – Boogie Wipes, My boss, Laura Roeder, One Goodie, a BUNCH of others. It’s like Monster job boards but for MOMS. That’s all. Good luck!

  7. hi there,
thanks for popping by! I am enjoying my blog tour! :)

  8. thanks for sharing this with us. Ive been trying to find LEGIT stay-at-home work for the past 3 months. Most are scams. I found a few good temporary jobs last year on on http://www.momsjobs.com but they were only 3-4 week jobs and I haven’t found anything this year. i will check out this site and hopefully be able to find summer work.

  9. Erin, if you use the link in this post I’ll get a referral fee :)

You know I was going nuts trying to fit it all in at the same time but I started a schedule and it really has opened up my life so that I can balance both work and family. It helps me and the ids know what we are doing when.

I work an hour in the morning, first thing while they eat breakfast or watch their morning show

Then a couple of hours at lunch when they (or at least Leah) takes a nap. then maybe another one after they go to sleep if I still have things to wrap up.

I also got an iphone…and it allows me to check email while out. (I’m going to post about that too…it ROCKS!)

    good luck! go for it!

  10. Does your job keep you away from your family a lot?

  11. I reeeeeallly want to do this. $30 seems so do-able. Anything I need to know before I sign up? Should I say you referred me?
