Funky Monkey…New Delicious & Nutricious Snacks for the Keiki (kids) {giveaway! ends 5/22}

Posted on 11. May, 2009 by Sarah in Cool Finds, Life

funkymonkeyFunky Monkey, Fruit That Crunches are a new 100% real fruit, no sugar added, 100% gluten and fat free, organic, and kosher snack…phew! How is that for a healthy treat?!  BUT, do they taste good?  That, my dear is the ultimate question.  And my answer is YES! We received these to review and the consensus was that the majority of our household loved them!

However, while my son, the pickiest child on the planet, did actually try them (yay!) it seems Funky Monkey didn’t hide their natural goodness of being real fruit good enough for this super sleuth.  He new right way that while yes it was good, it was the dreaded FRUIT!  I swear the kid has something personally against anything that’s a fruit or veggie (do you see me rolling my eyes?).  I know one day he’ll come to me and say, “Mom I want to be a vegetarian” and then I can laugh about how he wouldn’t touch anything that was fruit with a ten foot pole when we was younger.  But until then, it looks like I am stuck with fruit leathers and smoothies…he likes his smoothies, but check out how he “orders” them… “Mom, I would like a strawberry smoothie with NO strawberries please!” This tells you what I am dealing with. (yes he gets a full on strawberry smoothie w/bananas & blueberries and he is none the wiser that his “strawberry smoothie” does indeed have the “yucky” strawberries in it.  What he doesn’t know, can’t hurt him ;) )

BUT, my lovely (and not yet picky) 19 month old little bambina had no problem gobbling down Funky Monkey snacks.  Her favorite was the banana’s with cinnamon on them.  They are gooood!

A little bit more about Funky Monkey Snacks…

“Funky Monkey Snacks” are freeze dried fruit – all natural, with no added sugar, preservatives, colors or flavors. They are gluten-free, wheat-free and dairy-free. They come in four delicious flavors:

  • Bananamon (banana and cinnamon)
  • Carnaval Mix (banana, pineapple, apple, papaya and raisins)
  • Jivealime (pineapple and lime juice)
  • Purple Funk (banana and acai berries)

What I love about Funky Money Snacks…

  • They are a super easy, healthy snack for on the go families
  • They come in a pouch much like a Capri Sun package with colorful branding which makes kids instantly attracted to them and wanting to try them
  • While my house doesn’t have any food allergies, these would be great for any family that does (be sure to read all ingredients before you buy or eat them!)
  • They are a perfect solution for adding fruit to any lunchbox – with not needing to stay cool and no worry that they will get smooshed
  • They are GOOD!  They were the perfect nighttime snack for the hubby and me without any guilt
  • You get THREE serving of fruit in ONE pouch!  Woohoo!

    I mix the Jivealime, which is the only one I can seem to find locally, in with my morning yoghurt or my instant oatmeal and it comes out delicious.
