Contrary to many beliefs, in Hawaii we work (many or most have TWO jobs to afford this paradise), we have obligations, and yes, we even get sucked into Internet-land and stuck in our house like little rats stuck on a glue trap (ewwww! and ouch!) and we soon find we really could be anywhere, doing whatever we are doing.
But today we got out and took a drive “to town” to do some shoe shopping for the kids, and I suddenly remembered just where I was. I suddenly stopped with the iPhone (the batteries died, I won’t lie) and I looked around. I was shocked (just as much as I was the very first time I landed on Maui knowing that I would live here from now on) at how absolutely gorgeous this place is where I live now.
It’s freaking AMAZING here!
Who knew! haha
I looked around and took in the cows grazing in a huge open grassy area on one side of me. And the blowing fields of sugar cane on my other side. With the gorgeous blue ocean in front of me (and behind me) and Molokini off to my left, I just smiled.
Driving on our four lane “highway” watching the gorgeous clouds open up over Kula up on the side of the Haleakala volcano, I thought…”We live here?!”
(no pun intended)
Taking a drive with the kids on Maui is like turning on the cold water in your bathroom sink and splashing it on your face. It wakes you up. Refreshes you and gets all that stagnant-Internet-work-sleepy-dust out of your eyes…
ahhh, I needed that!
