Operation Relax Has Been Accomplished!

On our second day in Santa Barbara we woke up well rested in our super comfy bed at the Canary Hotel. The only bummer was that my husband forgot to turn off his phone alarm, which was set for 6 A.M. and then the hotel alarm clock went off at 6:15 a.m. (set by the previous guest). I was a tad (read: VERY) upset at this early rise, to say the least, no one better mess with a mama’s sleep in plan. Thankfully I was able to go back to sleep and get some more much needed shut-eye.

After a dip in the bath while watching a Rachel Zoe marathon on Bravo, a nice shower under the HUGE shower head, some coffee (truth be told, we made three cups each….and they were heavenly), we headed out to check out Santa Barbara.

The great thing about Canary Hotel is that it’s centrally located right off of State Street, the main drag in Santa Barbara, which is filled with all kinds of stores, pubs and restaurants. We stopped at an old favorite, Wahoo’s Taco for a yummy Bonzai bowl for lunch and then headed down to the wharf, which is perched above the Pacific waves, at the end of State Street. We grabbed an after-lunch sweet and watched huge pelicans glide above us and then took a stroll along Santa Barbara Harbor where we watched a crazy seagull dive and swim as if he were a fish.

That night we took a bicycle ride along the ocean and then parked them at Longboards, a restaurant on the wharf where we warmed up with a huge bread bowl filled with clam chowder. We ended our night with a glass of wine in front of the huge fireplace on the rooftop of The Canary Hotel. It was the perfect ending to an absolute perfect trip to Santa Barbara!

The Canary Hotel…the perfect place to make your nest for a relaxing getaway!

You know that the place you stayed at is top notch when you arrive home and are recommending it to everyone that will listen. And that is exactly what we’ve been doing since we returned from our trip to Santa Barbara. I wish The Canary Hotel was in Hawaii, it would be my go-to place when I needed to escape!

The Canary Hotel is fabulous from the moment you see the canary-yellow flags hanging outside to the moment you depart. I seriously could have moved in, the environment is so comfortable yet very indulgent all at the same time. You feel like you are being treated to a luxurious hideaway, all right in the center of downtown Santa Barbara.
The hotel is a boutique hotel but it’s still large and actually had perfect grounds for a wedding or party of some sort, with banquet rooms on the bottom floor. There’s a restaurant attached and they offer room service at extremely reasonable rates, I was very impressed by their room service prices…and trust me, you may just want to hang in your room the entire time while staying at The Canary Hotel so a good room service menu is a necessity.

The only complaint I could have with the hotel is that they don’t have bicycles for you to rent. They did have a place that they recommended for rental, but it would have been great if bicycles were available on the premises.

I truly had a marvelous time at The Canary Hotel and can’t speak enough about it. It’s definitely my pick for where to stay when in Santa Barbara and I can’t wait to return soon!

*Disclosure: The Canary Hotel gave us a discounted media rate for our stay, which had absolutely no impact on my review, thankfully The Canary rocked! (psst…I would pay full price in a heartbeat…or I’d take advantage of their great deals listed on their twitter account…..be sure to follow @canary_chirp)

  2. I’ve only seen the desert of California. I haven’t ever really wanted to go to California to explore the coast, the valleys and everything else people love about the state. How un-American of me, I know. However, your trip and thoughts have opened my mind a bit, and I’ll add it to my “to-travel list.”
