Have Kids Will Travel! Spotlight on Kid Friendly Maui Hotels

Although we still have sun filled skies with temps in the mid to low 80s here in Maui I know that temps across the country are starting to dip.  When you need a break from the chill, come visit Maui!

Maui offers so much to do with the family and you can grab some great deals in the off season…psst, the two weeks prior to Christmas are notoriously slow here and you may be able to find a deal…hmmm a trip to Maui for the holidays doesn’t sound like such a bad holiday gift if you ask me!

If you are traveling to Maui you won’t find a shortage in fun family stuff to do or places to stay…here are my top three choices for Kid Friendly Hotels in Maui.

the kids on Grand Wailea’s rope bridge

The Grand Wailea: This hotel is located on the South Side of the Valley Isle.  Of course almost every hotel on Maui is located on a gorgeous beach and The Grand Wailea is no different but what makes this place super special and fun for the kids is it’s pool!  It’s incredible.  I’ve likened it to “Disneyland on Maui” before.  Multiple water slides, rope bridges, a water elevator, swinging ropes that let you swing and then plop into the water, a lazy river and daily activities such as painting ceramics or building a bear, The Grand Wailea has no shortage of keeping your kids happy and busy.  (it also has a KILLER spa for Mom & Dad!)

The Westin Kaanapali Ocean Resort Villas: Located on the West side of Maui, this vacation ownership hotel has condos with kitchens which make this not only kid friendly but can help you save money on eating out. They have a separate kid pool that houses a giant pirate ship complete with canons firing water, slides to splash into the water and barbecues near by, perfect for grilling some hot dogs for the keiki after a nice long day at the pool. They also have fun nighttime activities for the kids such making s’mores and catching a movie on the front lawn near the beach.

The Hyatt in Kaanapli: Also located on the West side of Maui, what makes this hotel one of my favorite for the kids are all the ANIMALS that call the Hyatt home. Your kids will flip over the penguins, flamingos and swans that are  throughout the hotel. They also have a great kids area in their pool complex and a rope bridge for the kids to run across while catching all of the action below. The Hyatt is located at the end of the Kaanapali board walk, a walkway that hangs above the beach and leads you to every hotel that lines the ocean.  You can go for a nice walk at night and end at Wailers Village to grab some good eats or ice cream or even do a little shopping.

Maui definitely has no shortage of things to do with the kids, from submarine rides, to the Ocean Aquarium to the Sugar Cane Train, but if you want to stick to the beach and not do a ton of driving, these hotels could be your one stop for vacation fun with the kids!

  1. Hello! I could have sworn I’ve visited this site before but after going through
some of the articles I realized it’s new to me.
Anyways, I’m certainly happy I came across it and I’ll be book-marking it and checking
    back frequently!

  2. Jennifer! You are coming at the perfect time! The whales might be making their appearance then. You’ll love KOR!

Maybe I’ll see you in town…i live 5 minutes from there!

  3. Oh, thanks Sarah! We will be staying in The Westin Kaanapali Ocean Resort Villas in mid-December — Glad to know that is will be fun for our 2 little ones. :)

  4. Lisa Furar says:

These tips are GREAT! We are looking to come over to Maui soon:-) I’ll check out these hotels. Thanks Ohana Mama!

  5. Sigh. I went to Maui with my family when I was sixteen – a LONG time ago. I remember it being just utterly gorgeous.

Teenagers should not be allowed to visit Hawaii or any of the islands – they are way too immature and young to appreciate it. I’m the perfect example.

I would so LOVE to go there now. Hell, I’d love to live there.
