Date Night…

Date night.  Ah the glorious date night!  It was nice.  And it was boring.  We have become boring!

We went to dinner at the place I work a couple of nights.  When working I always day dream of being the person eating there.  Ordering a bottle of wine and taking two hours to drink it. Eating all the yummy goodness they serve and chilling while listening to the wonderful music.

So we went and we ordered the yummy food and a half bottle of some wine and listened to some great music. And then we ate way too fast – the true markings of parents who aren’t used to relaxing date nights.  We seem to have forgotten how to not rush.  I swear at one point we wanted to go take a walk around as if we had our children in tow and needed to entertain them while we waited for the food.  And then we realized, “wait!, It’s just us!”

I think we will have to learn how to eat out and chill, all over again when the kids turn 18.

Then we came home and got frisky.

No, not that kind of frisky but the kind that has to deal with a frisky puppy who DOES NOT want his nails cut, even with the gentle pedi paws we got him for Christmas (“what the hell kind of present is that?!” Duke asked with a tipped head)

So yes on our date night we rushed through dinner, tried to trim the puppy’s nails and then passed out.

We did get to sleep in the same bed with only a puppy to care for in the night. That was a treat!

And the topper was being woken up by a business phone call at 6:30 a.m., obviously this person does NOT live in Hawaii.

It was nice, but I think we need to do it more often so we actually remember HOW to date once again. ;)

(My mother in law is coming for 10 days in early January so I think we will get to practice…Can I get another “YAHOO!”)

  1. My husband and I don’t get out too often either. When we do get a babysitter once in a blue moon, we take forever to decide on what to do.

  3. LMAO! Uhm, yah. Date night used to end with one kind of frisky. Now it ends with letting dogs out, checking on sleeping kiddos and passing out …whether I had something to drink or not. I agree, we rush through dinners too now! But it’s fun no matter what. I don’t know if I’ll ever remember how to relax again.

  4. I sorta remember what that is like. My hubby and I went to a restaurant for his birthday in Nov…had 2 hrs alone. What did we do? Rushed through dinner and couldn’t wait to go back and get the kids. It’s sad really and definitely in need of practice.

  5. I can’t even remember the last time we had a date night, so your boring sounds fun LOL!

  6. I think that’s the first time I’ve heard of a date involving trimming the puppy’s nails, lol. We’re the same way. I don’t think we’ve been on a date that lasted more than an hour since we had kids!

  7. We’re pretty much the same. We’ll still be young enough when the kids are older to figure ti all out again. I’m betting it’ll be fun to learn how to have dates again too.

  8. My date with hubby last week was to go to our Christmas party that started at 7 pm – included open bar and the most gorgeous foods – needless to say we were home by 10:30 (and we live an hour away) and asleep by 11! Ah, kids can sure slow you down.
