Top Five Problems with Laundry

Laundry and I are not friends. And here is why….

The Problem with Laundry…

  1. You have to remember to move the clothes from the washer to the dryer or you will be faced with clothes that grow fur.
  2. You have to remove clothes from the dryer rather than simply fluffing each time you go to grab something to wear. Our electric company just LOVES this about us.
  3. You have to remove AND fold the laundry, not leave it in the basket all balled up where the clothes soon will be mistaken for dirty clothes. (hmm, maybe that’s why they seem to keep multiplying (see #5)
  4. You have to fold and PUT AWAY clothes – don’t leave them on your dining room table, only moving them to eat. And leaving them on the bed (to be pushed off on to the floor at night) or ONTOP of the dresser for days on end does not constitute “putting clothes away”.
  5. You have to remember to actually DO the laundry.  It will not go away on it’s own, oh no, it will instead grow into a monster. A big furry monster (see numero uno) that threatens to take over your house, all without taking over the mortgage. How rude.

Moral of the story…Just do it.

  1. You just described the way laundry works in our house. I LOATHE laundry. Laundry and paper work are my two biggest struggles in house work… I suck at them both

Hahahahaha…..!! I SO know what you are talking about with this one. Completely relate. I especially love #4–clothes sitting on top of the dresser. Let’s see… how many piles are on top of my dresser? Can I count that highl?

  3. Laundry is so easy to put off. I think that I have decided the only way to keep up with it is to pick one day a week and make sure that it is completely caught up. Only problem is I have so much to catch up on before that can be manageable!

  4. I laughed out loud!

We realized that when all clothes, bedding and towels are actually all clean, we don’t have space to put them away. So, there’s not a ton of pressure now to make sure that ALL the laundry is done. We now strive for the perfect balance of dirty-to-clean. Otherwise, there are just going to be more piles. Ha!

    • @Lara, OMG, us too! That’s when I get rid of the stuff that’s still in the drawers, since I don’t wear them and they never get make room for the clean ones. But that’s funny – I am totally with you!

  5. Haha I don’t mind doing laundry I just wish it would put it self away! My husband hates laundry more than anything! At least our washer and dryer are closer. Before we moved our washer and dryer was in the basement.

  6. It seems you have been to my house. I actually took 60lbs of laundry to a wash and fold place today because I just need some help getting caught up. The sad thing is, that 60 lbs was maybe half of what I left at home to wash myself. It is amazing how it multiplies so quickly!!
