Taking walks, taking pictures and making memories in West Maui

One of our favorite things to do at the end of a long day, when the house is at it’s hottest, is go for a walk.  It gets us all moving, exploring and creating memories.

Oh and I get to take pictures.  I’m in the market for a new camera.  I’ve saved up some money and am looking for a DSLR.  Any recommendations?

Anyhow, until my super duper camera is bought, here are some pics taken on my handy-dandy iphone, from our walk today at the Kaanapali Coffee Farms. Coffee farms on one side and the ocean on the other…amazing!

the kids got out energy (and got along. wow!)

the sun over molokai

leah found a pretty pink flower

Kaanapali coffee farms

then we did a drive-by to check the waves

and to say aloha to the sun and another day (and of course, take one last picture)

  1. Wow! GORGEOUS pics!!! Makes me want to move there! Thanks for sharing!

Totally missing Maui and so envious when I see all your
pics of my familiar haunts. I have been telling my husband
to find a job over there. I want to move back. Truly.
He’s on board. So, it could happen.

In regards to cameras, get the best Canon that you
can get for the amount of money that you have saved.
I have a 40D and LOVE it! I know that the new one has video,
as well. I have an amazing camera and lenses, but use my
iphone for lots of pics! I am amazed at how well they come
out, and the phone is so easy to transport. That’s my only
complaint with the 40D. It’s HUGE and heavy. Not super
easy to tote around, but I try to bust it out often.

I think we picked up a Canon Rebel at Costco by the airport, for
a decent price. I know that they have a deal now where you can
get a couple of lenses with it. My husband said that it’s a good
deal, and he’s a researcher, sooooo.

Can’t wait to see pics from your new camera!

    • @kathleen, Thanks Kathleen! I did see that deal at Costco and will probably go for that, especially now that you gave me the skinny! Thanks to much! Move back to Maui!! (keep me posted!)

  5. Hey Sarah! I just wanted to stop by because I fell off the face of the blogosphere, but I saw a mention of you, on Facebook tonight regarding how now famous you are ;) Congratulations on the clip on ABC! Anyway, geeze, your pictures put my “going on a walk” pictures to shame! My boys get thrilled to see a train, or deer on the hiking path in our back yard, I can not imagine, or even being to imagine what they would do if your backyard was our daily walk!!!
Oh, and I thought of you a week or so ago, someone told me they love plumerias! I finally googled, to see what they look like =)
Anyway, I just wanted to swing by & say hello. And you’re so gorgeous, seeing you in your Vlogs makes me want to run for cover up & bronzer, beautiful mama!!

    • @Claire, The word famous has me laughing but I’ll take it! ;) Wish I could send you some plumeria (the wouldn’t last the travel)..they are the best flower! They fit perfectly behind your ear and smell so good! One day, you must come to Hawaii and you’ll see them EVERYWHERE! Great to see you Claire!

  6. I agree with Lisa, beautiful pictures! You are so lucky :)

  7. That’s with an iPhone? Holy crap – great pictures Sarah!

    • @Lisa from Life with Lisa, Yeah, I am going to wear out my iphone, it’s really the only camera I use. I’m so ready for a “real” camera :)
