Did you ever catch that show of Shania Twain’s on the OWN channel? It was a documentary type show where they followed Shania on her quest to find her voice. She had gone through some serious drama…her husband had cheated and started a life with her best friend. (I’d lose my voice too…and he’d lose a lot more than that.) So anyways, Shania went on a quest to learn to sing again.
At first glance I thought to myself, “just be on with it and sing, damn it. Just sing. Sing a lot and soon enough it’ll jive and your voice will be found.”
Well, this past year was a learning year for me. It was a year of change. In all good ways, but change many times means challenges. The ebb and flow of life.
And somewhere along the way I sort let my writing voice get lost. Or it just didn’t want to come out and play when I did. Or it wanted to play with the kid down the street that is such a bad influence, called “writers block.”
Well, I’m taking my advice and am going to just write. Write, write, write, and soon I’ll find my voice again. And I’ll finally tell that writer’s block kid that I’m just not that into him. That’s the plan.
As part of NaBloPoMo (that’s National Blog Posting Month) I’m aiming to post on the blog every day for the month of November. I’m planning on writing as if no one is reading and just going for it. I plan on posting videos, collages, photographs, what ever my heart desires.
I plan on finding my voice, and then let it yell for a bit. Woo!
